Parallel thin lines or bands about 1 mm wide, present in solid print areas running in the direction of the press.
Causes:
- Excessive ink transparency;
- Excessive ink viscosity reduction;
- Plugged anilox roll;
- Worn anilox roll;
Solutions:
- Reformulate for optimum opacity level;
- Replace or add fresh ink;
- Clean anilox roll;
- Replace anilox roll;
Striations on a two roll system can be eliminated with a doctor blade.
