The lifting of any portion of the surface of the substrate or a previously printed colour during the printing impression.
Causes:
- Ink drying too slow;
- Excessive plate to impression setting;
- Part of ink system used too soft and rewetting.
Solutions:
- Ensure inter-stage dryers are operating properly for both temperature and/or air flow;
- Use minimum pressure settings;
- Change to a harder and faster drying ink and increase press speed.
