Giugni central drum flexographic printers are ideal for precision printing on flexible materials. The versatility of our central drum machines also makes them the perfect solution for short print runs and narrow web reels.
Ideally suited for high precision polychrome printing, central drum flexographic printers offer outstanding print quality even on elastic and very thin materials. CI (Central Impression) flexographic print technology uses a central drum to support the material for printing. This offers high precision registration while maintaining the print geometry.
The type of material being printed may also mandate the choice of a CI solution: very elastic materials like extensible plastic film and very thin materials like some nonwoven fabrics must be supported by a drum during printing. This means that the colour units print on material supported by the central drum without altering its position, tension or stability, so that excellent print quality is assured.
Time to market is another decisive reason for choosing central drum machines. They can run at over 600 m/min, and are thus typically used for large print runs.
The choice of Flexo Stack or Flexo CI thus depends on competing requirements for print quality, volume and material. While Flexo Stack printers offer greater flexibility for short print runs, CI technology is ideally suited to large runs. The versatility of Giugni custom solutions reconciles these competing requirements with central drum systems which can adapt to a variety of situations.
With a long tradition of developing custom in-line machines, Giugni’s central drum flexographic printer line-up is conceived primarily for manufacturers who wish to print their materials themselves without outsourcing this vital step in their process. We offer both compact standalone solutions for high speed, large volume polychrome printing, and printing units for installation on new and existing lines.
This latter solution enables manufacturers to commercialise the finished product – complete with printing. This is an agile business model that enables production to adapt to the changing demands of the market. These solutions offer unbeatable flexibility in terms of print pitch, thanks to the sleeve changeover system; what is more, a variety of pitches can be obtained with a single sleeve, thanks to the Variant function controlled via software by the operator. Finally, our Flexo CI solutions work not only with solvent-based inks, but also with water-based inks and the most recent UV inks.
Among others, Giugni solutions are ideal for manufacturers of personal hygiene products , such as diapers, panty pads and wipes. These are high production volume sectors which demand high speed printing solutions. Our central drum flexographic printers are perfectly suited to printing the very thin nonwoven fabrics – as light as 8 gsm – used in such products, for which stable print geometry is a critical requirement.
We are specialised in narrow web print technology and small/medium size printing, with highly differentiated products and a high degree of customisation. This means that we are able to offer a variety of print solutions for every application, including a number of different custom central drum flexographic systems, which are easily adapted to specific production requirements.
