Our flexographic printing systems are able to customise a variety of personal hygiene products, including sanitary towels and incontinence pads, drawsheets and mattress protectors.
The sanitary towel, incontinence pad and personal hygiene product market is increasingly demanding the development of printed, decorated products, easier to sell thanks to their customisation, to the point where producers now need to perform the printing process in-house, to avoid the costs and long lead times of outsourced printing or avoid the purchase of preprinted materials.
Responding to this demand, Giugni Srl has developed a well assorted line of flexographic printing machines for inclusion in production lines. Giugni flexographic printers are also an optimal solution for high quality, high speed printing in preprinted nonwovens production.
Miniflex and Modular flexographic printers with one or more colors are the ideal solution for manufacturers of sanitary towels who want to avoid the problems arising from the use of pre-printed material. In this way they will get a simple solution of printing directly on their production line. The Giugni products for printing nonwoven fabrics also include the wide band multiple colour Stack machines, ideal for increasing customisation potentials and giving personal care articles the producer’s own recognisable style.
Why choose a Giugni flexographic printer?
Flexo printing has many benefits for the personal care sector. First and foremost, the nonwovens industry requires printing systems with high productivities and speeds, up to more than 1000 pieces a minute. Compared to inkjet printing, flexographic printing conserves printing quality, especially at high linear velocities. Another advantage over inkjet printing derives from the use of a cliché instead of micro droplets. Naturally, when it hits the fibrous nonwoven material, ink tends to spread unevenly when carried in the micro droplets of the inkjet process, but if transferred by a printing cliché it retains its original, sharp impression.
What’s more, flexographic printing reduces product costs: it is common knowledge that flexographic inks are less expensive than the inkjet alternatives. Flexo printing reduces the number of process passages and thus production times, and uses more economical materials and equipment, such as the clichés and inks. Moreover, no complex maintenance is required, since flexo printers are relatively immune to contamination by airborne microparticles and dust, which may impair the operation of inkjet machines.
Finally, flexographic printing allows the use of water-based inks, preferable in the personal care products sector because they protect health, as well as being less pollutant for the environment.
